It is important that you insert your Contact Lenses correctly to maximize their effectiveness and reduce the chance of damage to your Contact Lenses or your eyes. If you take your time and follow these simple tips then you should be able to put your Contact Lenses in easily.
Before you begin to insert your Contact Lenses you need to make sure that your hands are clean and dry and check that your Contact Lenses are clean, wet and undamaged. If you have been chopping chillies really you should have put your lenses in first but try to ensure that all chillie juice is off your hands because if its not you will soon find out! Same goes for if your lens is damaged. It will feel like you have a boulder in your eye and that lens should be immediately discarded.
Place one of your Contact Lenses on the tip of your finger of whichever hand you prefer to use. Then pull down the lower lid of the appropriate eye with the middle finger of the same hand. You can then use your other hand to keep the upper lid open wide.
Next you should look directly at the Contact Lens on your finger and place it directly onto your dark colored cornea in the centre of your eye. This is a bit like poking yourself in the eye but with practise you will get the finger to eye speed just right!
Let go of your eye lid slowly. If you find that you have air bubbles under the contact lens you can remove them by closing your eye and gently rolling your eyeball around. Do not rub your eyes.
Trust me once you have done this a few times you will wonder why you were concerned and you will stop taking half an hour to put your lenses in! |
